What Is an Accredited Investor?
Basic Definition
- An Accredited Investor is a type of Sophisticated Investor
- It refers to individuals or entities that meet specific qualification criteria
Common Eligible Entities (any one of the following)
- Unit trust funds
- Central bank
- Licensed financial institutions
- Market operators
- Companies licensed in Labuan or other offshore jurisdictions
Other Eligible Parties (any one of the following)
- Senior management of relevant companies
- Closed-end funds approved by the Securities Commission (SC)
Investment Amount Criteria (any one of the following)
- Even if the above conditions are not met
- An individual or company that makes a one-time investment of more than RM250,000 may also be classified as a Sophisticated Investor
⚠️ Note: Meeting either the institutional criteria or the investment amount threshold is sufficient to qualify as an Accredited Investor.
