Use of Old and New Company Names
- After a company successfully changes its name with SSM, the old company name cannot be immediately discontinued
One-Year Transition Period
- During the first year after the name change, all documents, letters, and related materials must display both the new and old company names
Full Switch to New Name
- After the one-year transition period, the company is allowed to use only the new company name
Purpose of the Requirement
- This is to ensure customers, suppliers, banks, and government agencies can properly identify the company and avoid confusion or delays in processing
Penalty for Non-Compliance
- Failure to comply with this requirement may result in a fine of up to RM50,000
