Legal Penalties (Severe Punishment)
Under Malaysia’s Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLA), anyone involved in money laundering, whether knowingly or unknowingly, may face:
- Up to 15 years imprisonment
- A fine of up to 5 times the amount laundered or RM5,000,000 (whichever is higher)
