Share Par Value (Part 1)
Before the Companies Act 2016
- Shares had a par value, typically RM1 per share
- If shares were registered at more than RM1 per share (e.g., RM2 or higher), it was considered a Share Issued at Premium, requiring extra processing
After the Companies Act 2016
- Par value was abolished
- When registering a company, the share price can be freely determined based on the company’s financial situation and value
- Now, regardless of whether the share price is above or below RM1, it can be used to register the company’s Paid-Up Capital
