Malaysia's latest basic salary standards
Minimum wage gradually increased to RM1700
- Malaysia’s minimum wage will be implemented in two phases, increasing to RM1700 per month.
Phase 1 (from 1 February 2025)
- Applies to employers with 5 or more employees and employers engaged in professional activities
- Minimum wage set at RM1700/month
Phase 2 (from 1 August 2025)

All employers (regardless of company size) must comply with the RM1700/month minimum wage standard

- Minimum wage does not include:
- Allowances
- Bonuses
- Other additional benefits
Penalties for non-compliance
- Employers who violate the minimum wage regulations may face:
- Fines from RM1,000 to RM20,000
- Up to 5 years imprisonment
- Or both
